Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

Graduate-entry students start their studies with the four standard first year LLB courses. The second year of study consists of five LLB courses and is shared with both second and third year undergraduate students, depending on the courses selected. Graduate entry students are encouraged to participate in local courses such as Legal Research and Writing or Moot Court, which will help to develop the skills expected of a laws graduate. 

Lecturers at AAU follow the course content set out by the University of London and teach to ensure that students have the knowledge and abilities required to earn a law qualifying degree. The University of London develops the courses, selects the materials, sets the examinations, and grades to their internal standards, thus, the degree awarded is equal in integrity to the University of London Law Consortium institutions, institutions such as LSE, UCL, and King’s College. All LLB courses are year-long and exams are held during May and June at the British Council.

LLB coursework completed at AAU is not formally graded but is utilized to assist students in developing their writing skills and knowledge of the subject matter. Participation and regular attendance are essential; the intimate nature of our classrooms and small class sizes ensure each student receives personal attention during each session. The integration of the University of London’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and course materials with AAU’s mock exams, essays and extensive individualised feedback help students prepare for their examinations while developing skills inherent to the study of law.

Courses at Anglo-American University are taught by highly-qualified instructors with Master’s and Doctorate degrees in law, primarily from common law jurisdictions. Furthermore, as many instructors are adjunct instructors, they also have extensive professional legal experience. Courses are led by instructors with intensive facilitated discussions with students. Furthermore, throughout the course, students have written assignments and mock examinations, in which they are provided with detailed feedback from their instructors. 

Examinations are then administered and graded by the University of London and students sit for the examinations at the British Council in Prague. As such, the final diploma for the LLB is awarded by the University of London. 

Both AAU and UOL are able to provide information and confirmation of study regarding the program to prospective employers, postgraduate program applications, and application to Bar and professional legal examiners.

Bachelor of Laws (LLB) is a full-time 3-year study programme completed on location at Anglo-American University in Prague.

At Anglo-American University, students take a total of 12 year-long LLB courses as part of the University of London LLB program. Each course runs from September through May. There are 32 teaching weeks per academic year. Each class meets once per week at the AAU campus for 2 hours and 45 minutes. Therefore, for each class, students attend 88 hours of in-class instruction per course per academic year. This does not include all time preparing readings and assignments that students must do outside of class time.

Further information about the credit systems used by the University of London and universities in the UK and Europe is provided by the Quality Assurance Agency and the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System. 

For the LLB each module has been assigned a credit value of 30 at either FHEQ Level 4, 5 or 6. 

One UK credit equates to a notional ten hours of study. 

The UofL administers all official exams for the LLB program.
